If you haven’t heard already, there are new requirements relating to bats that will be used in Little League starting next year. These new rules mean that the bats that we have been using for years — and that your children may own — can no longer be used in Little League.
Yarmouth Little League is going to be purchasing new bats that will be in compliance for our teams, so you are not required to buy one of these new bats to play.
However, we know many parents get equipment for their children and with the holiday season already here, we know that many of you are shopping for gifts. So we wanted to make sure that you knew the correct bat to purchase, if you are thinking of buying a bat for your child one this year.
All bats that we use in Little League must now meet the USA Baseball Bat Standard. Bats that meet this standard have the USA Baseball logo printed on the bat, as seen below:
It is important to note that the USA Baseball (USABat) bats and standards are different from others, including several that have similar sounding acronyms. Make sure anything you buy has this logo on it.
The good news is that you can easily find the new bats. Dick’s Sporting Goods and other retailers are already selling them (note the logo on certain bats in the Dick’s online store), and sales associates are all familiar with the new requirements and can make sure you get a compliant bat.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reply and we will do our best to help you out.

We here at Yarmouth Little League hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season, and we’ll see you for registration in 2018!
